This tutorial shows you how to build a Web service using PHP through the PHP Development Tools (PDT) plug-in. The PDT project was launched in September 2007 and released in January 2008 V1.0.2. The PDT project provides state-of-the-art functionality to edit, debug, and deploy PHP applications in the Eclipse IDE.

System Requirements
To get the most out of this tutorial, you need to install the Eclipse Europa and PDT plug-ins. In addition, you must install the Eclipse Web Standard Tools (WST) subproject. Note: If you installed the Eclipse Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (EE) package, you have installed WST.
To follow the example in the tutorial, you need Eclipse Europa and one of the operating systems supported by eclipse
