Bret Taylor, Facebook's product director and co-founder of FriendFeed, said Facebook decided to make Tornado an open source technology because it wanted other developers to develop real-time Web services, this is part of its open source code plan.
Currently, any user can download Tornado for free. Facebook says the company wants developers to use Tornado to develop Web services.
