It will truly open up great opportunities for developers and provide them with an infinitely customizable web server.

This fall we work closely with Zend to improve IIS support for PHP. By using this new module, PHP developers will be able to significantly improve performance, scalability, and reliability when running on Windows, compared with the old php cgi module, sometimes it's almost 25 times faster!

They will also be able to easily integrate with the cool new features of the upcoming iis7 (for example, the new features of the output cache), as well as good integration with ASP. NET. For example, you can enable ASP. NET to provide members and roles for a website. At the same time, you can still use PHP to write many webpages for the website. In iis7, an ASP. NET module can execute any requests on the server. Therefore, form authentication, role management, and other features are no longer limited to URLs mapped to ASP. NET.
