You can also install it using yum, but you want to manually install it on Fedora 18 desktop.

An error occurred during installation:
Configure: error: APR not found
So I downloaded and installed all the dependent packages by referring to the install guide.
Download (download links of the lower bread can be found in the above link)
Httpd-2.4.3.tar.gz
Apr-util-1.5.1.tar.gz
Apr-1.4.6.tar.gz
Pcre-8.32.tar.gz
Decompress and compile
[Root @ localhost pkgs] # cd/root/pkgs
[Root @ localhost pkgs] # tar-xzvf httpd-2.4.3.tar.gz
[Root @ localhost pkgs] # tar-xzvf apr-1.4.6.tar.gz
[Root @ localhost pkgs] # tar-xzvf apr-util-1.5.1.tar.gz
Then, mv apr and apr-util to the following locations respectively.
/Root/pkgs/httpd-2.4.3/srclib/apr/root/pkgs/httpd-2.4.3/srclib/apr-util
Note that no version is available
[Root @ localhost pkgs] # tar-xzvf pcre-8.32.tar.gz
[Root @ localhost pkgs] # cd pcre-8.32 &./configure & make install
[Root @ localhost pkgs] # cd httpd-2.4.3/&./configure & make install
Start and Test
[Root @ localhost ~] # Cd/usr/local/apache2/bin
[Root @ localhost bin] #./apachectl-k start
