This article applies to HP printers that have drivers installed through Apple software updates and to the OS X 10.11 El Capitan, 10.10 Yosemite, 10.9 Mavericks, 10.8 Mountain Lion, and 10.7 Lio N's Mac computer.
Use Apple Software update to install the most appropriate HP print drivers and software on your MAC. Before installing the software, first turn on the printer to make sure that the printer is connected to the computer that is being printed or scanned using a USB cable or a local WiFi network or a wired network.

Attention:
Where is the download button? Download and install the HP driver automatically through the Apple software update, but if you want to download the driver manually, visit the HP printer driver for OS X Lion or later on the Apple Support website (English).
Install HP drivers from Apple software update
To install the HP driver through the Apple software update, create a new print queue on the MAC.
Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences.
Depending on your OS X version, single hit printing and faxing, printing and scanning, or printers and scanners.

See if your printer's name is displayed in the list of printers.
Do one of the following, depending on whether the printer is displayed in the list.
If your printer appears, remove and then add the printer again to confirm that you can communicate and make sure that the correct driver is used. Click the name of your printer, click the minus sign, and then delete the printer. After you delete the printer, click the plus sign, click Add Printer or scanner, click the name of your printer, and then continue to the next step.
T if your printer is not listed, click the plus sign, click Add Printer or scanner, click the name of your printer, and then proceed to the next step.
If your printer is not listed in the Add Printer or scanner window, make sure that the printer is connected to the Mac using a USB cable, or that the printer is connected to the same wired or wireless network as the Mac. Click the menu when you use or print, and then select the name of the printer.

Attention:
Selecting a generic driver option from the use menu can result in limited printer functionality.
Click Add to add the printer to the list.
If you are prompted to install the software, please click Download and install to complete the installation.
If the "software is currently unavailable" message is displayed, click Cancel and go to the printer and scanner software available for download and applicable to OS X Lion or later (English). If your printer is supported, visit the HP printer driver for OS X Lion or later (English), and try to install the driver manually.
Close the System Preferences window.
Try to perform a print, scan, or fax again, depending on your printer's capabilities.
If you can print, scan, or fax, you have the driver installed and you can use your printer now.
