Install Ubuntu 16.04 and Ubuntu on VMWare

1. Create a VM

(1) Click file --> Create VM

(2) select Custom (advanced) --> next

(3) Select Workstation 12.0 --> next

　　　　

(4) choose to install the operating system later --> next

　　　　

(5) Select Linux à Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 64-bit --> next step

　　　　

(6) modify the Virtual Machine name --> next step

The name of this virtual machine is the name shown in the left sidebar.

The location is where the VM is installed and data is stored.

　　　　

(7) Click Next

　　　　

(8) Select the memory to be configured and click Next.

Generally, set it to the recommended value. I have set 4G memory for the application.

(Memory settings can be changed at will later)

(9) select to Use Network Address Translation (NAT) --> next

In this step, select the network type. After the virtual machine is installed, it can be changed at any time.

(10) Select LSI Logic --> next

　　　　

(11) Select SCSI (S) --> next

　　　　

(12) Select create new virtual disk --> next

(13) modify the maximum disk size --> split the virtual disk into multiple files --> next

The maximum disk size is generally 20 GB, but here I want to change it to 100 GB.

　　　　　

(14) The default disk file is enough. click Next.

　　　　　

(15) Click Finish

　　　　

Final Result: an additional virtual machine named Ubuntu 16_04

2. Install Ubuntu 16.04 (No desktop) on Ubuntu 16_04 Virtual Machine)

Download the ubuntu-16.04.2-server-amd64.iso first, and I put the file

F: \ soft_install \ job_software \ VMWare \ ubuntu-16.04.2-server-amd64.iso.

(1) Open the settings panel.

Select Ubuntu 16_04 --> Virtual Machine --> Settings

(2) Select an image file

Select hardware --> CD/DVD (SATA) --> hook up the connection at startup --> select to use the ISO Image File

--> Browse --> select the path to store the ubuntu-16.04.2-server-amd64.iso --> OK

(3) Start A Virtual Machine

Select Ubuntu 16_04 --> enable this VM

　　　　

(4) install the system and select the language on the next page.

Select English and press ENTER

(5) Select the system installation type.

Select Install Ubuntu Server and press Enter.

(6) Select a System Language

Select English and press ENTER

(7) Select the time zone

Because there is no China, select other and press Enter.

(8) Select Asia

(9) select China

(10) Hong kong

 

(11) detect keyboard styles

Select No

(12) select English (US)

(13) select English (US)

(14) wait for detection. After detection, enter the host name and select Continue.

This host name is displayed on the Internet;

The host name can only be 0-9, a-z, A-Z, and a minus sign-, but cannot end with a minus sign, up to 63 characters.

(15) Fill in the user account and then Continue

(16) enter the username for installation.

(17) password

(18) confirm the password

(19) The system considers the password I set as a weak password. If you want to use it, select Yes.

(20) Whether to encrypt the home Directory

Select no

Encryption means that when a user logs on, the system automatically mounts the home Directory of the user. When the user exits,

The system automatically uninstalls the home Directory of the user to prevent other users from viewing the content in the directory of the user.

I forgot o (unknown □unknown) o.

 

(21) Wait for system configuration... Because of the time zone, the system automatically selects Chongqing as the time zone and selects Yes

(22) Wait for configuration and partition the disk

Select Guided-use entire disk and set up LVM

(23) format the partition

(24) Confirm partition formatting and select yes

(25) partition, because I have a total of 106.9 GB, continue

(26) confirm the change

(28) for HTTP proxy, leave it blank and select "Continue ".

　　　　

(29) Select whether the software is automatically updated, select manual, No automatic updates, and press ENTER

　　　　

(30) Select the software to be installed. By default, press Enter.

　　　　

(31) Wait for the system installation. During the installation process, select YES for GRUB installation, and forget o

 

(32) after the installation is complete, select Continue to restart the system.

　　　　

(33) The restart is complete. Enter the user name and password to enter the system.
