This article is an early article on AppStore development experience shared by johnqh, A CocoaChina community user. However, it is still worth reading by Chinese iOS entrepreneurs.
1. Background
I started my iPhone in September. I had no idea about PC software. I just tried it when I went public with the iPhone SDK. Of course, I didn't understand the various sales methods of App Store at the beginning. However, at that time, there was little competition, and there were thousands of apps in total. Of course, there are few iPhone users. At the best time, an app went to the U.S. sales list for 2nd (unfortunately, it didn't reach 1st ). The maximum number of downloads per day is about 10 thousand.
But soon I felt it was getting harder and harder to do. With the same workload, the sales volume is far from the previous high. What's more uncomfortable is that there is no stickiness. PC software, even if not updated, has a long time of life, and sales are slowly declining. In the AppStore, if there is no update, the sales will soon fall.
My Opinion on entrepreneurship is that a startup only has its own job, but it still needs to work all the time to make money. This is the case for small developers. The real start-up is to find a mode to increase itself. Therefore, I started the transformation in the second half. The existing iPhone app and the previous PC software are not too much, but they are looking for a sustainable development direction.
