Problem
In rare cases, after Mac is restarted, iTunes on Mac OS X v10.6.x or later may not recognize iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch. If you reinstall iTunes, the device may be identified. However, restarting Mac may cause the device to be unrecognizable again.

Solution
Follow these steps to diagnose the problem.
Note: You must enter the Mac OS X user password for some steps. If you do not know the user password, follow the steps in this article.
- Install all software updates. If any updates are available for the SDK (software development kit), install these updates. This can be done by clickingApple() Menu, selectSoftware UpdateAnd follow the instructions on the screen. If you need to manually download iTunes, you can download it here.
- Disconnect the iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch and exit iTunes.
- In the finder, clickGoMenu, and then selectGo to folder. In the displayed text bar, enter the following position:
/System/library/launchdaemons
- Click "go ".
- Find the file"Com. Apple. usbmuxd. plist ~ OrigAnd drag it to the "wastepaper basket ". (Do not include"Com. Apple. usbmuxd. plist"Move the file to the" wastepaper basket ".)
- Restart Mac, open iTunes, and connect to the device. If the device is displayed in iTunes, restart the Mac again to confirm whether the problem is resolved.
- If the problem persists, disconnect the device and exit iTunes.
- In the finder, find iTunes in the application folder and drag it to the recycle bin ". (This will not remove any of your iTunes media or iTunes databases .)
- SelectGo> go to folder. In the displayed text bar, enter the following position:
/System/library/extensions
- Click "go ".
- Find the file"Applemobiledevice. kextAnd drag it to the "wastepaper basket ".
- Restart Mac.
- In the finder, clickGoMenu, and then selectGo to folder. In the displayed text bar, enter the following position:
/System/library/privateframeworks
- Click "go ".
- Find the file"Mobiledevice. FrameworkAnd drag it to the "wastepaper basket ".
- In the finder, clickGoMenu, and then selectGo to folder. In the displayed text bar, enter the following position:
/System/library/launchdaemons
- Click "go ".
- Find the file"Com. Apple. usbmuxd. plist ~ OrigAnd drag it to the "wastepaper basket ". (Do not include"Com. Apple. usbmuxd. plist"Move the file to the" wastepaper basket ".)
- Restart Mac.
- Download iTunes and reinstall it. Test whether the problem persists. Then, restart the MAC for the last time to confirm whether the problem is resolved.
