Microsoft Word is a Microsoft text processing software.
Microsoft Word causes memory corruption when parsing malformed RTF format data, allowing attackers to execute arbitrary code. When a user uses a version affected by Microsoft Word to open a malicious RTF file or Microsoft Word is an Email Viewer of Microsoft Outlook, the user can preview or open malicious RTF mail information, attackers may exploit this vulnerability to obtain the permissions of the current user. It is worth noting that the default Email Viewer of Microsoft Outlook 2007/2010/2013 is Microsoft Word.

Temporary solution:
If you cannot install or upgrade the patch immediately, NSFOCUS recommends that you take the following measures to reduce the threat:
* Microsoft Fix it solution is applied. You cannot open the RTF content in Microsoft Word.
* Read emails in plain text.
* Use the Microsoft Office File Block policy to Block the opening of the RTF File in Microsoft Word 2003,200 7, Microsoft Word 2010, and Microsoft Word 2013.
* Deploy the Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit.
