Use logdump to view extract trail files (Getting Started)
Use the logdump tool:
Displays and searches for information in the goldengate trail file.
You can save part of the information in the goldengate trail file to a separate trail file.
1. Start the logdump Tool
Shell> logdump
2. Get help
Logdump 1> help

3. Open the trail File
Logdump> open dirdat/rt000000
Logdump responds to the following information:
Current logtrail is/GGS/dirdat/rt000000
4. Display Environment Settings
Display the header information of the trail file:
Logdump 1> fileheader on
Display the header information of the data record:
Logdump 2> ghdr on
Add information for displaying data columns in the output information:
Logdump 3> detail on
Add hexadecimal and ASCII data to the column list information:
Logdump 4> detail data
Control the number of data records displayed:
Logdump 5> reclen 280
View the current logdump environment settings:
Logdump 74> env
Example:
Fileheader [ON | detail] displays the file header:
Logdump 14662> fileheader detail
Logdump 14663> POS 0
Reading forward from RBA 0
Logdump 14664> N
5. view records in the trail File
Locate the first record and move it from one record to another in sequence:
Logdump 6> POS 0
Logdump 7> next (or input N)
Locate an approximate starting point, and then locate the next normal header record:
Logdump 8> POS <approximate RBA>
Logdump 9> scanforheader (or input SFH)
6. Count records in the trail File
Logdump> count
Logtrail/GGS/dirdat/rt000000 has 4828 records
Total data bytes 334802
AVG Bytes/record 69
Delete 900
"Insert 3902"

8. Search for hexadecimal data values

Logdump 28> POS 0
Current position set to RBA
Logdump 29> N
9. Save the record to a new trail File
Logdump> Save newtrail 10 records
Save all records to the new trail file:
Logdump 68> Save <File>
<File> the name of the new trail file.
Save some records to the new trail file:
Logdump 69> Save <File> <n> records
<N> indicates N records starting from the current position.
10. Record logdump session information
Logdump> log to mysession.txt
When finished...
Logdump> log stop
Start record:
Logdump 71> log to <FILENAME>. txt
Write text information to session logs:
Logdump 72> writelog "<text>"
Stop record:
Logdump 73> log stop
