Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu, Ubuntu
When I used Ubuntu 14.04, I downloaded the official deb installation package of youdao dictionary and installed it. Now I can't install Ubuntu 16.04 because of some dependency problems. As a result, Google successfully solved the problem and became familiar with the usage of dpkg.
Because the official deb package (Ubuntu version) depends on gstreamer0.10-plugins-uugly, but the software is no longer available in 16.04. However, this package does not actually affect the use of youdao dictionary. Therefore, we can remove the dependency on the database in the deb package. The procedure is as follows:
1. Download Ubuntu deb package: youdao-dict_1.1.0-0-ubuntu_amd64.deb from official
2. Create the youdao-dict directory and decompress the deb package to the youdao-dict directory:
$ Dpkg-X./youdao-dict_1.1.0-0-ubuntu_amd64.deb youdao-dict
3. decompress the control information in the deb package (the dependency of the package is written in this file ):
$ Dpkg-e./youdao-dict_1.1.0-0-ubuntu_amd64.deb youdao/DEBIAN
4. Edit the control file and delete gstreamer0.10-plugins-uugly in Depends.
5. Repackage:
$ Dpkg-deb-B youdao youdaobuild. deb
6. Install the repackaged installation package
$ Dpkg-I youdaobuild. deb
Note: For more information about dpkg usage, see my next blog.
