Ubuntu 16.04 install the BT client Transmission 2.84
Transmission is the default BitTorrent client of Ubuntu. It has recently released the latest Transmission 2.90 version. Currently, you can upgrade and install it through PPA for Ubuntu 15.10, Ubuntu 14.04, and Ubuntu 12.04.
After a long time, the updated Transmission 2.90 brought support for miniupnpc API v14, CyaSSL/WolfSSL and PolarSSL backend encryption, and various Bug fixes and performance improvements, for more information, see release and update details.
The following describes how to install the BT client Transmission 16.04 on Ubuntu 2.84, as follows:
For Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 15.10, Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 12.04, and its derivative versions, install and upgrade GTK or CLI by following these steps:
1. Run sudo add-apt-repository ppa in the terminal: transmissionbt/ppa to add Transmission PPA.
2. Execute the following command to upgrade and install:
Sudo apt-get install transmission
3 (optional) If you want to downgrade the built-in release version of Ubuntu, you can use the following command:
Sudo apt-get install ppa-purge
Sudo ppa-purge ppa: transmissionbt/ppa
