PHP versus ASP

Order:
Microsoft's ASP is a powerful Dynamic Web page technology, I have used a year of ASP, using it to create a lot of Web sites, but now my company is trying to switch to another internet technology called PHP, for future web site development.
The problem is that we are used to using ASP and like to use it, why should we turn to PHP?
Open Source Movement
First, we realize that the open source movement has enabled us to gain strong technical support and free code supply. For example: In ASP, upload files, encryption password, send mail need third-party business software support, is to charge; but in PHP, it's all free!
But that's not enough to convince us to switch to PHP, because we've invested a lot of time and money in the necessary business software tools.
Internet Programs and Linux
I have a dream, I hope in the future every program is an Internet program. No more need to buy packages, do not install it, they can be on the Internet, and is already installed, we just run the program in the browser, this will not require too much configuration.
Most of the Web apps are running on Linux and PHP. They typically do not use ASP, there is a software called Chilisoft ASP, it can run ASP on Linux, but it is for money, and it does not support the latest version of the ASP, more importantly, the creation of high-performance ASP sites used in the good Third-party DLL can not run on Linux.
So, in order to realize our Internet software dream, we decided to find a better, close to the ASP technology to replace it!
Support for ISAPI
The PHP core engine that the Zend team is developing includes an ISAPI engine.
ISAPI is a Microsoft Internet WEBSERVER API, and its application enables programmers who are accustomed to developing programs under Windows to have a shortcut to Linux.
Technical analysis
Everyone claims that their product is the fastest, which is not what I really care about---I only care about "fast enough," for me, PHP fast enough!
ASP supports a variety of programming languages. This system allows the program to be born with slow and multiple memory footprint, each of its language parsing is equivalent to a PHP compilation, (that is, when the ASP began to parse a code, it is equivalent to start multiple PHP), when the ASP parsing to an ASP start tag (<%), It needs to jump out of the HTML parsing process and choose another appropriate parsing process, and when it resolves to an ASP end tag, it has to return to the HTML parsing process.
At the same time, Zend intends to release a compiler to protect our source code, as well as a variety of different optimization technologies (Zend Cache and Optimizer), and even the implementation of PHP in Windows good application, no doubt, PHP in this respect will be stronger than the asp!
A business decision to use PHP
As opposed to PHP, there are many other open source options, such as Perl,python/zope and Jsp/tomact. For me, PHP is closest to ASP and easy to convert!
Perl: A language that does not apply to large projects.
Python/zope: A good language, but its system is not as close to the ASP as PHP.
Jsp/tomcat: I think, compared to scripting language, Type-safe, Type-bound, type-checking Java is not very good operation!
Code
We note that the code we develop with PHP is shorter than that developed with ASP, because HTTP GET and post variables are automatically created as global variables in PHP so that we don't have to spend too much time analyzing the ASP Request object.
At the same time PHP's include () function is very good, we can have the conditional include code, so that our code as concise as possible, more understandable!
PHP has cookies and session management features similar to ASP.
Conclusion:
I am still using PHP and use the symbol "$" in all places, it is very cool, and it is also my favorite symbol! :)
