How to install a printer on a computer

3. After entering the "Details" screen, click the "Add Port" button.

4. Enter the printer port in the "Specify network path for this printer:". If the computer name of the computer that is connected to the printer is "PC-1" and the shared printer name is "HP printe r", enter "PC-1HP Printer" at this blank text box.

5. After the input is complete, click the "OK" button. This allows the printer port to be added. Go back to the "Properties" page and click the "OK" button again to exit the printer properties.

If the client computer's operating system is Windows 2000/XP:

1. Click "Start" → "printers and Faxes" to find the "HP Deskjet 3740 Series" printer icon;

2. Right-click on the printer icon and select the "Properties" option. In the "Properties" Pop-up, click on the "Ports" tab.

3. Go to the "Ports" page and click on the "Add Port" button.

4. Select "Local Port" in the pop-up window and click on the "New port" button.

5. Enter the printer port in the "Input port name". If the computer name of the computer that is connected to the printer is "PC-1" and the shared printer name is "HP printe r", enter "PC-1HP Printer" at this blank text box.

Disable the "bidirectional support" option for printers on client computers

If the client computer's operating system is Windows 98/me:

1. Click "Start" → "settings" → "printer" to find the "HP Deskjet 3740 Series" printer icon;

2. Right-click on the printer icon and click on the "Properties" option. Click on the "Details" tab in the Pop-up "Properties" window;

3, after entering the "Details" interface, select "Background Printing settings";

4. In the Background Print Settings window, select Disable bidirectional support for this printer, and then click OK to exit.

If the client computer's operating system is Windows 2000/XP:

1. Click "Start" → "printers and Faxes" to find the "HP Deskjet 3740 Series" printer icon;

2. Right-click on the printer icon and click on the "Properties" tab. In the Properties window that pops up, tap the Ports tab.

3. On the Ports page, the default state is enable bidirectional support. Remove the "√" in front of this option. Configure the ink cartridge information in the printer properties on the client computer.

1. Enter printer properties.

If it is a Windows 98/me operating system, click on the "Services" tab directly;

If it is a Windows 2000/xp operating system, click Print Preferences on the General tab, and you can find the Services option when you enter.

2. Click the "Repair this device" button on the "Services" page;

3. Enter "HP Deskjet 3740 Series Toolbox" and select "One black print cartridge" from the drop-down list "Configure print cartridges (P)".

4. Click the "Apply" button to exit. Even if only one black cartridge is installed on the printer, sending commands on the client computer can also be printed. If you later need to send a color document to the client, simply change the cartridge configuration to "one tri-color print cartridge" in the toolbox.
