FOTA-Air firmware upgrades guide
Sudden 1. Overview and requirements.
Overview:
1. FOTA represents an aerial firmware upgrade.
2. This is a program where end users can upgrade their mobile software "in the Air".
3. The connection to the PC system is not required.
4. This procedure is provided through 3G and Wi-Fi networks. However, if you upgrade over a 3G network, the download will generate additional costs.
Requirements:
1. Stable network status (3G or Wi-Fi).
2. Adequate battery capacity (above 50%).
3. Enough storage space (at least 100MB of USB storage space).
4. Samsung account number (create or login).
5. During the upgrade, please do not remove the battery.
Note: We support only Samsung licensed software.
Step 2 Check to see if the battery capacity is sufficient to power the mobile device .
1. Under the Standby page, select "Application".
3. Choose "About Mobile phone".
5. You will see "battery power", if the charge is above 50%, then the electricity is enough for Fota to upgrade.
Step 3. Check to see if there is enough memory on the mobile device.
1. Under the Standby page, select "Application".
3. Slide up the screen and select "Memory".
4. Check the "USB memory" available space.
Note: The amount of space required is 100MB. (1000MB = 1GB, therefore, in this case, there is enough storage space available).
Step 4. Check the current version of the software on the mobile device.
1. Under the Standby page, select "Application".
3. Choose "About Mobile phone".
4. You will see the "Android version" and "baseband version" of your device.
Step 5. Sets the packet connection on the mobile device (for 3G).
1. Under the Standby page, select "Application".
3. Choose "More" (Android 2.3 system mobile phone here is "Wireless and network").
4. Select "Mobile network".
Note: The Internet may generate additional costs, please consult the phone Card network operators for specific details.
7. The packet option is activated at this time.
If end users do not want to use a packet and want to use a wireless network instead of this box (no green hooks), refer to step 6 below to "Connect to the wireless network on your mobile device."
Step 6: Connect the wireless network on the mobile device .
1. Under the Standby page, select "Application".
4. Select the slider in the upper right corner to open the "WLAN".
5. Select the wireless network that you want to connect to.
Note: If you are connected to a reliable network and you are asked to enter a password, follow the instructions on the screen.
Step 7. Perform FOTA software upgrades
When a mobile device can perform a fota software upgrade by moving data or a wireless network connection, follow these steps:
1. Under the Standby page, select "Application".
3. Choose "About Mobile phone".
4. Select "Software Update".
5. Select "Update".
6. The Software update dialog box pops up on the screen to select the way you want to download the software.
7. Click "Download", after downloading the software, click "Install" to install the software.
NOTE: Mobile phone will start downloading packages, download time depends on the use of the connection method, due to network operators operating speed, Wi-Fi generally faster than 3G.
8. After the installation of the update software, the mobile phone will be restarted, the mobile phone software can be upgraded to a newer version.
9. The handset will reboot and complete the installation program.
10. View the System version: Enter the phone settings-about the phone. This clearly shows that the software on the mobile device has been upgraded from a previous version.
