Ii. installation of Eclipse
1. Download eclipse
Download the Linux version of Eclipse IDE for Java EE developers from official website http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/
Eclipse-sdk-3.7.2-linux-gtk.tar.gz
2. Decompression
$ TAR-ZXVF eclipse-sdk-3.7.2-linux-gtk.tar.gz
Extract it Out is an Eclipse folder
3. Move the folder to the installation directory
$ sudo mv eclipse/usr/local/
4. Start Eclipse
$/usr/local/eclipse/eclipse
At this point, eclipse can start successfully and install successfully.
Third, create a desktop link
Ubuntu 12.04 uses the Unity interface, which has one more launcher bar on the left side of the desktop. We can use the software we use in the launcher bar to put an icon, to enable fast start. Each icon in the Launcher bar actually corresponds to a file in the /usr/share/applications directory.
In order to create a launch bar icon for Eclipse, We can create the file eclipse.desktopin the/usr/share/applications directory (the filename can be arbitrary, but the filename suffix must be . Desktop)
Enter the command:
$ sudo su
# Gedit/usr/share/applications/eclipse.desktop
Write the following content
[Desktop Entry]
Name=eclipse
Comment=eclipse SDK
Encoding=utf-8
Exec=/usr/local/eclipse/eclipse
icon=/usr/local/eclipse/icon.xpm
Terminal=false
Type=application
Categories=application;development;
Then we search for the keyword "eclipse" on the dash homepage to see the Eclipse icon
You can lock the eclipse icon on the sidebar to avoid having to search the dash home page each time you execute eclipse. When the Eclipse app executes, right-click the Eclipse icon on the sidebar and select " Lock to Launcher " in the pop-up menu to lock it.
