Objective
VMware tool tools must be used in many of the VMware product technologies. For example, if you are synchronizing the system time on ESXi virtual machines and ESXi host hosts , you must install the VMware Tool on the virtual machine's operating system to use the "Synchronize client and Host Time" feature in the Vsphere clinet client feature. Especially when you're deploying VDP , it's important that the time between the client and the host is consistent, and the only way to synchronize time is to use the VMware Toolinstead of setting up the NTP service in the client. Otherwise, there will be a series of unknown problems. (This is clearly stated in the official documentation)
System environment
Operating System: ESXi 6.0
Operation Steps
1.
install VMware Tools to set up time synchronization
1) View VMware Tools Status
Go to hosts andclusters, home, Checklist, select the virtual machine you are ready to install VMware Tools on, and then click the Summary tab in the right-hand dialog box in theVMware ToolsBar To see if the virtual host has VMware toolsinstalled (indicating that VM toolsis not installed)

2) Right click on the virtual machine where you are ready to install VM Tool , select "Client", select "Install / upgrade VMware Tools(W)" and click "OK".
Note:VMware Tools must be installed in the event that the virtual machine is powered on!

3) Enter the system, create a Mount folder to mount the VM Tools image in the virtual CD
#mkdir/mnt/vmtools

8) Enter Yes (the system recommends using Open-vm-tools, the default is no, which means that VM toolsis not installed, because this article is an introduction to installing VM Tools , Select Yesto continue installing VM Tools. To use open-vm-tools, you can download the source code on GitHub )
9) All-way Enter
Hit the ENTER key all the way, select the default option until you see the following screen indicating that the VM Tools installation is complete

Note: This article installs the VM Tool that is used by the operating system that is CentOS, VDP 's operating system is SuSE , in section9Step before the steps are the same, only in the first9When selecting the default option, theSuSEThere will be an option under the operating system for you to enterGCCin the installation location of the machine ("What's the location of the GCC program on your? Would is it?"), the default value for this option isYes, which means that you manually enterGCCpath, you enterNo, which means you can skip this step by using the system default path. Next there is a similar option (a valid kernel header path. Would is it?) InputNo,Skip this step.
10) Set the virtual machine to host time synchronization (if you are deploying VDP, you must synchronize the client and host time)
To the vSphere client Client, select the virtual machine to back up the verification, right-click and select Edit Settings. Select the "Options" tab, select "VMware Tools" tab and tick "Synchronize client time vs. host Time". At this point, theVDP virtual Machine time synchronization setup is complete.
