Galileo is a synchronous release of 33 major Eclipse projects. Eclipse Foundation says the Galileo release series consists of 33 projects. However, some projects are subprojects of other projects, and the Eclipse Foundation marketing does not highlight all of the projects. In any case, Galileo represents the largest single release of new technology.
The important thing to keep in mind for the Eclipse release series, especially Galileo, is that although it is a synchronous release, it does not mean that the projects are unified. Each project is a separate open source project with its own project leader, submitter, and development plan. The Release series concept is designed to provide transparent, predictable development cycles.
