The new company is starting to build its own transaction storage engine based on the technology acquired from Netfrastructure. it is expected to launch this year, at that time, the gap left after Innobase technology was purchased by Oracle will be effectively supplemented.

The MySQL supervisor will reveal the plan for a self-built storage engine at a customer meeting scheduled to appear later in April, and further describe the details of the storage engine "plug-in" architecture.

MySQL will also update the Innobase contract received by Oracle. This paper contract is less than ten years old and requires Oracle to update InnoDB storage engine of Innobase according to the original regulations.

MySQL CEO Marten Mickos said: "Oracle told us that the business is normal-they don't want us to slow down and said they will fix software bugs ." He added: "Oracle is also full of our subcontractor ."

MySQL databases can be combined with various storage engines, including InnoDB. Previously, MySQL was sold with storage engines of other companies and other database components.

InnoDB products are applicable to commercial-oriented transaction systems. All circles are trying to figure out how Oracle intends to acquire InnoDB. Some people doubt whether Oracle intends to weaken the momentum of MySQL or even kill a popular product that works with MySQL.

RedMonk analyst Stephen O'Grady said that MySQL decided to write its own storage engine, apparently a direct response to Oracle's acquisition of Innobase and Sleepycat Software (another open-source database interconnected with MySQL.

O'Grady said: "It is MySQL's long-term interest to master the technology based on the challenges that these purchase cases may bring and the problems that may affect customers ."

Innobase is a small company with only five employees. with Oracle, the cost of buying Innobase is not large. However, the control of Innobase allows Oracle to obtain valuable information and learn how customers use MySQL.

Compared with Oracle, MySQL has a small scale and revenue of less than $2005 in 40 million. However, according to market research firm Evans Data, MySQL is currently the most popular open source database software for developers.

Generally, the functions of open-source databases are inferior to those of Oracle's flagship database products. However, open-source companies such as MySQL, Ingres, and EnterpriseDB are facing increasing competition pressure on Oracle.
