Qt3d had existed in the Qt4 era, when the project was still under Nokia's management. By the time Digia took over QT, Qt3d was retained as a legacy project. Here are some of the words I wrote about Qt3d before. Originally Qt5 out of the time did not include Qt3d, it is clear that because of the Qt4 era of many QT sub-projects to transplant easy! So when we saw Qt5.0 the QT library was very streamlined, there were still a lot of Qt4 libraries that had not been ported, and there were many bug! I think Digia wants to fix these bugs through Qt5.1, Qt5.2, and Qt5.3 so that a robust QT base library can support many of the Qt4-era sub-projects.
