Linux Kernel 2.6.23 was announced by Linus Torvalds three months later. The new version includes a new controversial CFS process scheduler, a simple Read-ahead pre-Read mechanism, and lguest 'linux-on-Linux 'semi-virtualization system hypervisor, XEN guest support, KVM smp guest support, SLUB is now the default slab distributor, XFS and ext4 file system improvement, support for PPP over L2TP, A userspace driver framework, the description mark of the O_CLOEXEC file is improved. The new fallocate () syscall and lock statistics files support multi-queue network devices. There are also many minor changes and fixes. For details, see the change log.
