RAID English full name redundant array of independent disks meaning "Independent disk redundancy", referred to as the disk array.
RAID0 is used to extend the disk, the disadvantage if a hard drive breaks down the system crashes; RAID1 is one to do the storage of a mirrored backup, must be an even number of hard drives, wasting disk space; RAID10 is a combination of RAID0 and RAID1 advantages to form a disk array RAID5 is a part of each disk that is mirrored and requires at least three disks.
Environment: centos5.6
We first add a new 10G disk:
We fdisk-l, view the disk status to see that the new disk is currently unavailable
Making a RAID0 disk array
FDISK/DEV/SDB//Create a new partition
We then type N to create a new partition, try to create an extended partition, press E to establish an extended partition, enter the partition number, then assign the partition size, we allocate all the sizes, and then press ENTER from 1 to allocate all the sizes. Finally press p to view.
The extended partitions are established, the logical partitions are started, and the new partitions are started by N. Press "L" to establish logical partitions, using "+100MB" to allocate a space of 100MB size, press p to view it. Logical partitions start at 5.
