OS X Mavericks GM version has come out, but some of the structure of OS X Mavericks installation package has changed,
So you can't make a USB flash drive in the previous way. The following is a new way to make a startup disk (and of course it can be produced as a CD-ROM)
1. First you need to turn on the ability to show hidden files.
Open terminal (terminal), enter:
sudo passwd root
[sudo] password for you:---> enter your password, do not echo
Enter new UNIX password:---> Set root password
Retype new UNIX Password:--repeat
This way, you set the root password.
Execute the following command in the terminal (Terminal) app: Enter SU
Password:root Password
sh-3.2# defaults write Com.apple.finder appleshowallfiles-bool true
2. Then install the package from OS X Mavericks,
Now, right-click on it,
Then select Show Package Contents.
3. Go to Contents/sharedsupport, and in this folder you will see a file named InstallESD.dmg. And then double-click it,
Mount him as a disk.
4. You will see a file called BASESYSTEM.DMG in the disk directory that was just mounted successfully.
Cannot find please mount with command
Sh-3.2#hdiutil Mount-plist-noverify-noautofsck-nobrowse/volumes/os X Install esd/basesystem.dmg
5. Next Open "Disk Utility", restore BASESYSTEM.DMG to the USB flash drive (This step is similar to the previous method, just "source disk"
Be sure to select BASESYSTEM.DMG, target disk or USB drive.
6. After the recovery is complete, open the USB drive directory (the default name is ' OS X Base System ') and then go to the system/installation.
Here you will see an alias for the installation package (similar to a shortcut with a small arrow icon on it). Please remember to delete this alias. 、
7. Then copy all the files in the INSTALLESD directory you mounted (that is, the directory where you found the basesystem.dmg file) to the USB flash drive.
System/installation folder, this step is designed to replace the one you just deleted with the installation package alias in the INSTALLESD mount directory.
8. The production is complete, now your USB flash drive should be ready to start. After inserting the USB drive, hold down the option key to boot,
Then select the USB flash drive to boot in the Select Startup Disk interface.
9. Finally, if you want to cancel the display of the hidden file, please re-execute the first step, command.
Defaults write Com.apple.finder Appleshowallfiles-bool false
