1. Security Mode
Press the power supply first, and then press the SHIFT key to enter the safe mode.
2. Start from DVD/CD
First press the power button, then put the boot CD/DVD into the suction type optical drive, and then continue to press the "C" letter button on the keyboard
Ps: C is CD.
3. Single User Mode
Since it is Unix, there must be an OK mode.
Press the power supply first, and then press the "COMMAND" Operation key + "S" letter at the same time to enter the single-user mode.
You can use basic Unix bin commands such as fsck and reboot.

However, not all SL instances can start the 64-Bit mode,
CPU: Intel Quad-Core Xeon and Core2Duo are both supported. CoreSolo/coteco cannot enjoy 64bit.
There are also several existing models: Macbook, Macmini, and MBA cannot start the 64-bit model either.

Under terminal:
$ Ioreg-l-p IODeviceTree | grep firmware-abi
Check whether the value of EFI is 32 or 64.
