In this tutorial, I will show you the Photoshop image processing software to create an abstract sci-fi-style energy laser beam. We will use some interesting techniques to create these beams, in a spatial context, such as lighting effects, color overlays and image adjustments.
This is the final effect preview:
First step:
Create a 800*800 black background file, with the Spacebrush brush just downloaded, draw some subtle suspension on the background, as shown below
Using the asteroids you just downloaded, add some flying stones to the star background: (adjust to the size you think fit)
Using soft eraser, some parts of the new asteroid layer are watered down as follows:
Build a new layer and repeat the addition of more flying stones, as follows:
Step Two:
We're going to start drawing laser beams. First create a new layer and draw a gray circle with the brush tool (adjust feather values and transparency)
With a smaller brush, a lighter color, add another smaller circle to the position shown below:
Then use the free transform tool to distort this layer as follows:
Then drag the size again as follows:
Continue stretching until a thin shape is formed as shown in the following illustration:
This is the final effect:
Step Three:
Copy this layer several times, put it around the right place (resize yourself), try to form a group of effects as shown in the following figure:
Merge all layers and add motion blur:
Reduce this motion blur layer of the layer's opacity is about 40%, resulting in this effect:
This is the effect so far:
Fourth Step:
We're going to add some color to this layer. Let's start with a new layer, as described in step 2nd, but with a blue picture, as shown in the following illustration:
Changing the blending mode to "overlay" and repeating it several times can have the following effects:
Continue to add more color images, as shown in the following illustration:
Fifth Step:
We almost finished, and finally adjust the effect, we can add some image adjustment layer above:
Select a color:
Adjust curve
Apply the following layer mask:
This is the end result!
