For Windows, the integration of GUI and kernel has great benefits for stability. But for Linux, GUI is just an application, and theoretically it is not as stable as Windows at the kernel level. To ensure Linux stability, it is not actually X-windows. However, when the GUI crashes, Linux is much easier to handle than Windows. For desktop applications, Windows is much more stable than Linux.
