Sometimes you may want to record a terminal session, perhaps to save a complex command line operation as a reference for future use, or to share knowledge. You may also want to keep the size of the recorded file as small as possible, and want to make a quick playback when playing the recorded file. In this article, we will discuss two command line tools (ttyrec and ttyplay) for you to record, save, and play terminal sessions.
Ttyrec & ttyplay
The ttyrec command is used to record terminal sessions. ttyplay is used to play sessions recorded by ttyrec.
Here is the man of these tools:
> Ttyrec
> Ttyplay
Test Environment
- System-Ubuntu 13.04
- Shell-Bash 4.2.45
- Application-ttyrec 1.0.8-5 & ttyplay 1.0.8-5
