Dust Removal
Hazards of dust
Dust can be said to be the best enemy of the data center. If the dust removal measures of the data center are not in place, any good server or network equipment will have problems.
Because the current network devices and servers generate a lot of heat during operation, in order to distribute the heat, the heat is usually discharged by active heat dissipation, due to the small space in the data center, these devices usually use air cooling for heat dissipation. the piston hole works with the convection air to bring dust into the equipment. In addition, some equipment will produce high voltage and static electricity when working, will attract dust in the air. Dust carries moisture and corrosive substances into the device and covers the electronic components. This reduces the heat dissipation capability of the electronic components. long-term accumulation of a large amount of heat will lead to unstable operation of the equipment.
In addition, due to the dust containing moisture and corrosive substances, the insulation resistance between adjacent printing lines is reduced, or even a short circuit affects the normal operation of the circuit, the power supply, motherboard, and other device components may even be burned out. When too much dry dust enters the device, it will act as insulation, which directly leads to poor contact between connectors. At the same time, it will increase the friction resistance of the device action. The light will speed up the wear of the device, and the heavy will directly cause the device to become stuck and damaged. It can be seen that dust is very harmful to servers.
Sources of dust
1. The air-conditioning system used to maintain the temperature and humidity of the entire data center will inevitably bring some dust into the data center.
2. IDC room management personnel will bring some dust into the IDC room during entry and exit.
3. dust generated by the building itself. The doors and windows of the IDC room, especially normal rooms without dust control, may flow into a large amount of dust. The aging of the data center itself, such as walls, floors, ceilings, etc.) surface of the skin is also prone to dust.
3. dust generated by equipment in the IDC room, such as paper scraps and toner particles generated during the operation of printers.
4. During the operation of most data centers, negative pressure is applied to the outside of the data center, that is, the external pressure is higher than the air pressure of the data center, causing serious dust cleanliness in the data center to exceed the standard.
How to prevent dust
1. Data center partition control. For large data centers, regional management should be implemented if conditions permit, and equipment vulnerable to dust interference should be separated from personnel entering the data center as much as possible to reduce their exposure to dust. For example, the data center is divided into three areas: server host zone, control zone, and data processing terminal zone. A dedicated access channel is set up, which is separated from the host area by a glass curtain wall.
2. Check the tightness of the IDC on a regular basis. Regularly inspect the doors and windows of the data center and clean the air-conditioning filtration system, block gaps in contact with the outside world, eliminate the sources of dust, and maintain the air cleaning of the data center.
3. Maintain the IDC environment humidity. Strictly control the air humidity of the data center, that is, to ensure that dust is reduced, and to avoid corrosion and short circuit caused by air humidity.
4. Strict personnel access control. An access control system is set up to prevent unauthorized personnel from entering the IDC room. Strict control is also required for personnel entering the activity area of the IDC room to avoid entering the host area as much as possible.
5. Pre-dust removal measures should be taken. The data room should be equipped with special overalls and slippers and should be cleaned frequently. Personnel entering the IDC room, whether in the IDC room or other personnel permitted to enter the IDC room, must change the slippers or use shoe covers. Minimize the number of people entering the IDC wearing fiber or other clothing that is prone to electrostatic dust.
6. increase the pressure on the IDC. It is recommended that the Qualified Data Center adopt positive pressure to prevent dust. That is, a device similar to a gas bucket continuously enters fresh and filtered air into the data center to increase the internal pressure of the data center. Due to the pressure difference inside and outside the IDC room, the air in the IDC room is vented outward through closed windows, doors, and other gaps, so as to achieve dust-proof effect.
