Website design must be full of five principles of poetic user experience design

Over the past five years, the customer experience design team has grown from several people to more than 20 people. I have done technology before and found that there are many similarities between engineers and designers, that is, there is a pursuit.

To lead a team is not just to manage the team (the so-called administrative management), but also to achieve business success, set goals for the team, set the pursuit, and then work with everyone to find a way to achieve it. These five design principles are summarized when the team grows, projects increase, the quality of the team output is uneven, and the team members report that the delivery is no longer felt by the designer. Try to adjust the design for the team and give the team a spirit.

The main reference is Dieter Rams's "ten good design principles", Apple's iOS design guidelines, and of course Google's top ten design principles, because Rams is based on industrial design principles, iOS is the principle of an operating system platform, while Google is the design philosophy of a company. If it is copied, it may be difficult to convince the public (in fact, more importantly, there are too many, no matter which one has exceeded the memory limit of 7 +-2), I will try to gather the strengths of my family, find some principles for my team, and share them with you here.

Before introducing these five design principles, we should reflect on what is not a good design? What do you think should be the design? Nowadays, the design is full of direct plagiarism without seriously understanding people's design reasons. It is full of design that is difficult for people to use and famous as high-tech, and is full of design that violates the basic aesthetic principles, it's full of almost acceptable designs, but it's full of designs that don't show brands and have no difference... I think all the designers who are pursuing should say "no" to these phenomena. So what kind of design should we pursue?

  

 

 1. Useful

A product must first be useful to meet people's needs and solve user problems. This is not only limited to functional requirements and problems, but also includes people's psychology, emotion and the need for beauty. To achieve this, we must first understand the user's needs. This is a very difficult step, but it is necessary to make a good product. Understanding the user's needs is not just asking people around the street what you need, what do you think of such a product... It is a process of research, thinking, and prototype that requires in-depth questions, understanding trends, judging people's motivations and values, and discovering potential needs. Before a good product came out, people did not expect such a product. This is the pleasure of design :)

  

 

  2. Innovative

A good design must also be innovative. Here, innovation is not "micro-innovation", nor "creation", because many products do not have many opportunities for creation from scratch, however, there is a chance to innovate and adopt new technologies, new materials, and new interaction processes, so that products can be used better to meet the "useful" of the first point"

  

 

  3. Elegant

Some people say that Chinese websites and interfaces are designed to be vulgar because of Chinese tastes... However, I think that people's taste needs good design and products to improve. The quality of Europeans is high because they are born to see that they are everywhere filled with good designs, buildings and products, which are imperceptible. Therefore, as a designer, we should take the elegant design as our pursuit and bring us the beautiful enjoyment of our hearts. We should say goodbye to the rough and indecent design.

  

 

  4. Intuitive

The first three items should be followed by many designs, such as industrial design, graphic design, and fashion design... For interaction design, a good design should allow users to use and operate based on their own instinct or life and professional experience. This requires simplicity and friendliness, what can be quickly understood by users is, in fact, this makes interactive products really have conversations with people...

  

 

 5. Extreme

Okay, the last one will be handed over to "extreme". When we do design or product, we will have to finish the draft, go online, and finally check whether it has reached the limit? The ultimate is not perfect, but the best in what we have done, the best, not to let go of a detail, to show the best design and product status to the user... For example, a pixel, a text, a color, an operation delay...

  

 

These five principles are the results of learning and thinking over the past few years and can serve as the design philosophy and pursuit of the design team.

Although I have left the team, these principles will always serve as a guide for my own design and product.

Finally, I will attach two words that I personally think are very good. One is Li Jianxi, president of Samsung, which inspires Samsung to change from a foundry to a first-class consumer electronics manufacturer. Once again, people must be pursuing it. "To be a first-class product, we must think like a first-class company ".
