Windows 8 and Windows RT have brand new "start" screens, but they still have familiar desktops that enable you to perform anything as you would on Windows.
You can access the desktop by clicking or clicking the Desktop tile (which displays the desktop background) or using the keyboard shortcut (that is, the Windows logo key (+ D) from the "start" screen.
Fixed desktop applications
If you often use an application, you can fix it to the taskbar on the desktop. The procedure is as follows:

On the "start" screen, click or click "desktop ".

Open the application to be fixed.
When running an application from the desktop, the application is displayed in the taskbar.

In the taskbar, press or right-click the application, and then click or click "pin the program to the taskbar ".
Now, you only need to click on the task bar or click your application once to use this function.
Fix the folder on the desktop to the Start screen.
If you often use some folders and want to quickly access these folders, you can pin them to the "start" screen.

Sweep from the right edge of the screen to the center and click search ".
(If you use the mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the pointer down, and then click "Search ".)

Enter "file resource manager" in the search box, click or click "application", and then click or click "file resource manager ".

Browse to find the desired folder or use the search box in the upper right corner.

Long press or right-click the folder, and then click or click "fixed to 'start' screen ".
After you return to the "start" screen, you will see the tile that has been fixed to the "start" screen. Click or click the tile to open the folder on the desktop.
Personalized desktop
All the personalized settings you are familiar with (including themes, desktop backgrounds, sounds, and colors) are still available, and you can customize the desktop as needed.
