Good morning everyone, the former Minister Wu gave us a request for cloud computing. Academician Li Deyi gave us a lesson from the height of history. Now I am going to talk about cloud computing from ideal to application practice.
Let me talk about the current state of cloud computing and cloud computing practices, and the lessons learned from cloud computing.
The ideal of cloud computing Just now, Academician Li has already talked a lot, and some places no longer improve. In fact, most of the Internet has been established for information sharing. I can collect what you have edited, I can see it. But the invention of the computer is not used for editing, it is used for calculation, it is to complete certain procedures. Now we have the ability to provide computing for the size of the Internet. This is an inevitable trend. Waiting until one day we do calculations as easily as information search, this should be imaginable, or should be achievable.
This is a process of development, which is an inevitable process. Many people are very embarrassed at first. When the cloud computing cloud is in the fog, the IT industry is very clear. We have already gone to the cloud computing.
In this ideal, we must be very clear that we must adhere to open standards. Because Tenet has succeeded to the present, it has adhered to open standards. It is impossible to have only one cloud. There must be a lot of clouds combined together. If you can use these many clouds. Moreover, the high reliability and application requirements of the computer are very high, and more importantly, we must focus on the realization of business value. A smooth transition of the enterprise architecture to protect existing investments. More importantly, we have built such an architecture on a platform to transform existing investments into cloud computing models.
This is also our ideal, this ideal is a flexible and efficient cloud computing model. These clouds are shared by our company, and one cloud is a shared cloud. There are different requirements for these two different trends of the cloud. First, the company has its own and self-management, which attaches great importance to security. The cloud must pay great attention to the cloud, it has different structures and deployments.
For us, cloud computing is a different level of concept, not only IT computing, but also the following basic computing capabilities, more importantly platform capabilities, and can build applications on the platform, before this can be based on different applications Formed together to become a business, and ultimately to serve each of us. There are different priorities in this area. We need to pay attention to the hardware level of the infrastructure. Before that, we are also a platform for cloud computing. For the service, as a business, what matters is process management, which is the process between different programs. Don't think of cloud computing as a hardware thing. For some users, it provides such a requirement. First, it sees the application of various services, then accepts such a request through the service management platform, and then enters an SOA framework, a service-oriented architecture. Then run these applications on a virtual infrastructure, with IT resources and data resources. When these resources are applied and satisfied differently, they can be fed back layer by layer, and finally provide cloud-based services. It can support high-level services from the services of the next layer, layer by layer, and finally form some points.
A very important consideration in cloud computing is security considerations. As far as the cloud computing we just understand is cut by different levels, we can consider the security of the cloud at different levels. Our definition of the cloud is divided into different levels, involving these three aspects, hardware, software and services. This requires all of IBM's organizations to be involved. There is a department within IBM that directly reports to the CEO, which is cloud computing, which coordinates the work between IBM's vast departments.
In China, we have also established a C4, we combine the various teams of laboratories, services and sales.
There is one more point we need to emphasize here. It is necessary to communicate with the outside world not only by our IT partners, but also by our customers. It is also very close to the academic community. It is really a big ecology. surroundings. Within IBM, we are constantly moving our products and services closer to cloud computing, and we are constantly analyzing our products. In the practice of our customers, we also conduct important experiments in different countries and different continents. The need for a society to participate also needs to be carried out on a global scale. You can't imagine that the Internet is only developed in one country, because the popularity of Tenet must be global.
IBM has deployed cloud computing centers and cloud computing labs in many countries in a short period of time. It is very helpful to further develop new areas for our IBM. More important is to understand and understand cloud computing in social practice and promote its development.
There is a good example of our side, the world's first commercial cloud computing center established by IBM and Wuxi government. As we said before, building a cloud computing center must have a very clear purpose. It is to solve something, not to build a cloud computing center for cloud computing. In China, the Chinese government is eager to make great achievements in software development and service outsourcing. Wuxi is one of the demonstration cities, and there are software and service outsourcing bases there. There are many software and service outsourcing companies in the base. Each company has its own computer room. Its first investment is not only to recruit employees, but more importantly, to buy some machines and buy some software. Create such a platform. Considering this problem, the government thinks that it can provide a public platform and finds IBM. With a public platform, it can be done simply as a data center, but cloud computing is an advanced platform for unified standards, ensuring product development. Quality reduces management complexity and greatly reduces the cost of product development and access to information, increases responsiveness to business needs, is scalable, and provides a platform to encourage collaboration. Next, let's talk about a big company. I can't say its name. We can share this as a case with everyone. As a bank, it also has its own development team. A large part of the work is testing. Is it possible to standardize this service, put it in the cloud, and then share it? This is the question they are considering. If you have such a shared resource, you can reduce costs and be more standardized and safer. Because of such a demand, IBM is opening up a level of operation with this big bank. How to automate and automate the deployment of so many applications is very important for them.
There is also a Dutch company called iTricity. When I talked to their CTO, why is it called iTricity, he combined IT and power, it is looking through the cloud, how to deploy its resources. We often look at this cloud as an individual. I provide the demand to it, and the results it does are for my reference.
From the previous cases, I briefly outlined some of the experiences and lessons we have learned.
First, cloud computing must focus on cost savings, that is, to focus on ROI. If the original intention of cloud computing is to save costs, let a massive scale available to everyone. In the process of building cloud computing, we must pay attention to the business model, what problem you are trying to solve. This has a good measure.
The second point is that this is a gradual process, a process of satisfaction. In this process, you must have senior leaders to participate. Because it is not a problem that a department can solve. In IBM, outside of our three divisions, software, hardware, and services are a process that requires a new level.
Third, the usual way to adopt new technologies is to start with a pilot so that you can learn gradually in the process. There are a lot of problems that are not IT issues, and there are many social practice issues. If you learn and adjust in this, it will make your success faster, don't eat a big fat man.
We want the business to promote cloud computing. It is not an argument for a simple technical solution, but an argument for the business model to achieve recognition. We also need to implement it in stages.
Fourth, cloud computing is a new model that will break the existing interests and must pay attention to the mutual relations of stakeholders and how to manage them.
