How to install Ubuntu on Windows via Wubi

This article uses the PC (Intel x86) edition as an example to show how to install http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/13835.html >ubuntu on Windows through Wubi. 64-bit PCs (AMD64) are installed in almost the same way. If you are interested in knowing how to install a normal Ubuntu Desktop, Server Edition, or use a text interface installation CD, refer to the guide.

Start Wubi

Start your Windows system first. It is recommended that you first scan your hard disk and restructure your hard disk (defragmentation) to make sure your hard drive is structurally healthy and has enough contiguous space. (Minimum 5GB recommended)

Then, if you have a Ubuntu/kubuntu/xubuntu/mythubuntu desktop CD, you can put the CD in the optical drive first, and Windows will automatically start the following Ubuntu CD menu:

If you decide to use Wubi to install Ubuntu in Windows, select Install inside Windows. If Windows does not have a pop-up menu, you can also directly execute the Wubi program on the disc.

If you download only the Wubi installer (wubi.exe), you can perform it directly on Windows. Successful execution Wubi will see the following screen:

The options on the screen are the only options you need to select to install Ubuntu/kubuntu/xubuntu/mythubuntu using Wubi, including:

* Install hard disk (installation Drive)-Install the Ubuntu/kubuntu/xubuntu/mythubuntu hard disk name, the right side has the amount of space remaining on the hard disk.
* Installation size (installation size)-Installs Ubuntu's virtual hard disk size, at least 5GB. cannot be larger than the remaining space on the installation hard disk.
* Desktop Environment (Desktop Environnement)-select Ubuntu variants to install: General Ubuntu or Kubuntu, Xubuntu, or Mythubuntu.
* Language (Language)-Installed Ubuntu/kubuntu/xubuntu/mythubuntu interface language
* User name (Username)-Your Ubuntu/kubuntu/xubuntu/mythubuntu system requires a user account to be used as a management system. You can select this user login name here. can only be in English letters, number of words, meiosis (-) and the bottom line character (_) composition, the middle can not have spaces and the first character must be English letters. Note that the UNIX user name is case-sensitive, that is, Jrandom, Jrandom, and Jrandom are three different users. To avoid confusion, it is advisable to use full lowercase letters as the user name.
* Password (Password)-Log in the user's required password, same case. To reduce the chance of being cracked, do not use phone numbers, birthdays, people's names or any words found in a dictionary.
