Microsoft has started to formally push Windows XP SP3 to the user, which does not include IE7, but has updated the browser-related components, so when it comes to some of the IE upgrade uninstall issues, there are some areas to look out for. Microsoft IE8 Deployment Manager Jane Maliouta the first detailed explanation of the issue in the company blog, as follows:
IE6 Users
Everything is fine, users can continue to use IE6 under SP3 to get the latest http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/34130.html "> Security updates." Upgrading SP3 also does not affect the user's personal settings in IE6.
IE7 Users
Existing SP2+IE7 users can upgrade SP3 without affecting existing personal settings and continue to get the latest security updates. The only problem is that IE7 cannot be unloaded at this time, and the IE7 icon in the Control Panel add-remove program has become grayed out.
This problem occurs because when the user installs IE7 on the SP2, the IE6 file is backed up to the uninstall directory, and some of the components are updated SP3. If users uninstall IE7 after upgrading SP3, the system will revert to some old version files in the uninstall directory, causing the system to become cluttered. Therefore, Microsoft has specifically shut down the IE7 uninstall function.
Therefore, for existing SP2+IE7 users, if you need to uninstall the IE7 after upgrading SP3, you must first uninstall the SP3 and then uninstall the IE. The easiest way to do this is if you think it's possible to uninstall IE7 in the future, then you must uninstall the IE7 before upgrading SP3, and then reinstall after the upgrade is complete.
IE8 Beta 1 Users
The problem is similar to the IE7, where Microsoft has stricter rules for IE8, and SP2+IE8 Beta 1 users cannot even get SP3 updates through Windows Update. Therefore, users should first uninstall IE8 Beta 1 and upgrade SP3. Install IE8 After upgrade completes Beta 1 it's all done.
