Openscap is a set of management tools that maintain system security, such as automatic review of patch updates, inspection of system security configuration, and system intrusion detection. It is included as a feature of Fedora 14 in this release.
The purpose of the OPENSCAP project is to provide an open source framework for the ability of the open source community to integrate the Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) standards. The goal of Openscap is to provide a simple, easy-to-use interface to become a framework for automatic security content protocols in the community. The Secure Content Automation protocol is a community-defined fusion of harmonized norms that can be stronger because of community participation, as the security automation community ensures that, as far as possible, the use cases of each domain are covered and incorporated into the specification.
