Private cloud vs public Cloud, who has a greater sense of development

Cloud computing has brought us a lot of amazing products, such as the advent of Gmail that has dramatically changed email, Amazon's elastic Compute cloud has significantly lowered the price of cloud computing and made it easier for start-ups and companies to start and run their research projects.
But for now, after five years of accounting for cloud computing, we know that some companies still want to be able to run their own software.
In Wednesday, an open source project made this hope a big step forward. Rackspace, the main vendor of cloud services, says they now run their cloud services in OpenStack, essentially the Linux version of cloud computing. This means that customers can build their own OpenStack software and run them in their data centers, and they can run on rackspace clouds, even in another company, such as HP's OpenStack cloud.
This is a big step because OpenStack is a relatively new project, and some customers are unsure whether it is ready to handle a large workload. Rackspace chief technology officer John Engates says OpenStack is ready.
So why don't Google and Amazon allow customers to build private clouds?
It's hard to get a clear answer to this question from the two cloud-computing giants. Google says it needs to host everyone's data on its own servers because it's the most effective way to do things. This is the promise of public cloud computing.
Amazon, like Google, is the best-selling cloud platform service that has core storage, databases, and computing resources needed to build cloud applications, but does not allow customers to run their own data centers (even their biggest customers) on the Amazon cloud.
Amazon's chief technology officer Werner Vogels says the open private cloud does not make much sense, as Amazon does with its own power to run. "The reality is that when you really dig into the private cloud or the internal cloud, you understand that the privately installed infrastructure usually costs a lot of expensive fixed cost and lacks all the key advantages of cloud computing." ”
While Vogels and Google agree that hosting their services has some benefits, the Fortune 500 companies have not migrated to cloud applications and platforms, except for software development and testing.
This is because they are concerned about the security, confidentiality, and reliability of the cloud. Jason Pressman, managing director of Shasta Ventures, a cloud venture company based in California, said: "This is about fearing that companies will lock down corporate data, for security concerns and compliance." ”
As a result, some companies have started developing back-end software to drive their available services, giving the company a way to run its own private cloud. Cloud based applications are also produced accordingly.
Rackspace's engates says that using a private cloud takes into account the company's situation, as flexible start-ups are not suitable for private clouds. He believes that traditional companies, Fortune 100 companies, will want to use the private cloud.
"The SaaS software market seems to be split into two distinct parts: the software of these vendors can only run on their own systems, allowing customers to choose which apps to run and how to store data," says Brian Behlendorf, chief technology officer of the World Economic Forum. ”
Jason Pressman thinks companies like Amazon and Google will eventually have to find better ways to help companies that want to control their own data. But he thinks that this will happen on the public cloud.
Pressman said: "I think that over time, these security issues and vendor lock-in issues will be resolved." Once these problems are solved, I think it will make it more meaningful for people to use public clouds. ”
