3.2.1 Sound card Configuration

Normally, the system is installed, the sound card should be able to emit sound. However, there are times when the sound card may not sound because of some configuration reasons, and the following configuration work is required.

Double-click the sound card configuration icon in the hardware configuration of the control Panel to eject the configuration window shown in the following illustration.

You need to select the configured action, either "Use the default sound card driver" or "manually select a sound card driver." By default, the default sound card driver is used. If your sound card is not supported by ALSA, try selecting the sound card driver manually. When you select to use the manual selection of the sound card driver, choose the appropriate driver from the right Drop-down list, and then click the OK button and the configuration will take effect.

Advanced settings are available only to expert users. If you do not know the meaning of the specific parameters, do not easily modify.

3.2.2 Graphics Configuration

Double-click the video card configuration icon in your hardware configuration, or select settings → video configuration from the Start menu to open the Display Settings window shown in the following illustration.

The configuration tool automatically detects the type of video card and display and displays the probe results in the video card driver and display text boxes. If the video card is not detected, you will need to manually select a similar item in the Drop-down list or use the first VESA. Some monitors do not support automatic detection, in which case they should find out the type of the display themselves.

In resolution, the Move slider sets the screen resolution, ranging from 640x480 to 1680x1050. The Drop-down list box in the screen color area allows you to toggle between 16 and 24-bit colors. In the refresh rate Drop-down list, set the display refresh frequency.

When the configuration is complete and press the "Test" button, the system starts a test screen, asks if you want to use this setting, clicks Yes, returns to "OK", and then restarts X to take effect. If you cannot start the test screen under the configuration parameters set by the user, the system prompts the user that the settings will not take effect and revert to the previous settings.
