In China, after several years of rapid development, cloud computing has completed its own transformation and entered its own rising period. At the same time, the prototype of the cloud computing market has begun to emerge. However, in the view of Gartner research director Zeng Yiqing, there are too many variables in the domestic cloud computing market in terms of technology development, user habits, and market structure.
Technological changes in cloud computing
Since the concept of cloud computing was put forward, the technology of cloud computing has been in the stage of development and change, and this trend has extended to various fields such as software, hardware and network. We can even say that it is precisely because of the development of new technologies that cloud computing has maintained a rising vitality.
Zeng Yiqing talked about his own views on several of the most popular new technologies in cloud computing.
When it comes to Docker technology, Zeng Yiqing believes: "The Docker and Platform as a Service (PaaS) market is growing rapidly. It is expected that by 2019, at least one-fifth of enterprise software will use the container platform in the software life cycle."
When it comes to the recent hot-spot hyper-convergence technology, Zeng said: "Super-convergence is a very large market, and it is expected to exceed the global market share of 5 billion US dollars. And this is a market with great potential, we expect it to There is a huge room for improvement in the market. However, manufacturers mislead users when promoting hyper-convergence, letting users think that only small and medium-sized enterprises will apply hyper-convergence, but in fact, large and medium-sized users may apply hyper-convergence. In addition to user convenience, the biggest advantage lies in the cost advantage of software licenses. Software vendors sell with a set of hyper-converged software licenses, so that the original three software licenses now only pay for a software license. Cost. In addition, most hyper-converged software vendors pay by node, which is much cheaper than paying by CPU."
In addition, Zeng Yiqing believes that: "Super-convergence technology will be further developed. At present, the first generation of hyper-convergence is characterized by the integration of computing and storage. If users need to increase computing power or storage capacity, users must add nodes. In terms of application, users are given many restrictions. Currently, hyper-converged technology is more applied to virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) applications and terminal-type applications. These applications are characterized in that all computing is concentrated on the server. Technology may have a bigger breakthrough in terms of this limitation."
Changes in user habits
In fact, cloud computing not only has many variables in technology, but also has many variables in user habits.
Zeng said: "Many users are misled by this, thinking that hybrid cloud is a better choice, but for users, they may confuse hybrid IT with hybrid cloud. In the data center of the enterprise, it is generally not It is a 100% private cloud application, and there must be a physical machine or a virtualized device. Also outside the enterprise, there must be a managed device, and applications other than this will be on the cloud. Under this architecture, the enterprise CIO There are three issues to consider."
Specifically, Zeng Yiqing introduced: "The first is the problem of cloudy management, that is, the problem of unified management. This problem needs to solve the management of IT resources scattered around each cloud, that is, whether you are renting or hosting, you need to Different IT resources are managed by a unified platform. Secondly, the problem of hybrid applications is solved. Through it, some modules of the user can be deployed on the cloud, and some modules can be deployed in the data center of the enterprise. The relevance of the IT infrastructure is relatively low, it is just application deployment, and then the call between the mutual application modules is done through the application programming interface (API). The last thing to consider is the IT infrastructure problem. The user has some storage resources in the cloud, and another part of the storage resources are placed in their own data center, which involves many scheduling problems."
For hybrid IT applications, Zeng Yiqing emphasized: "Gartner has investigated the needs of many users. We have found that the development of private clouds cannot replace the growth of external clouds. At the same time, only very large enterprises are suitable for a complete, all-round private cloud. In fact, after in-depth research, we found that 80% of the international users we surveyed claimed to have completed their own private cloud, but the essence is not a full-scale private cloud, they are doing virtualization + automation, just provide Some very basic and common features, so the idea that they mostly do a full-scale private cloud is a failure, and the only thing that comes to the end is virtualization + automation."
The cloud computing market is not clear
In recent years, a large number of newcomers have emerged in the domestic cloud computing market, but Zeng Yiqing believes that the domestic cloud computing market is not clear.
Zeng Lanqing said: "From the perspective of the global market, Amazon, Microsoft, and Google have occupied the top three positions. Therefore, it can be said that the global cloud computing market has formed. But the Chinese cloud computing market has its own particularity, total IT consumption. It can be divided into five parts: data center system, software, service, terminal, and communication. The top three are very close to cloud service consumption, and the cloud service consumption is constantly replacing the three, showing a growth trend. However, China’s replacement ratio is lower than that of the United States. Many, the cloud service market is still in its infancy. Gartner predicts that the top three advantages of China's cloud IaaS service will be clear by 2020. But no matter who the deer is, the scale and technology are the prerequisites for the winner."
Regarding the appearance of the top three in the domestic cloud computing, Zeng Yiqing further introduced: "Amazon, Microsoft, Google have both technology and market share, can be regarded as the top three. The top three must have market size, stickiness to customers, and the next The advanced understanding of the products of the first generation market, with these conditions, can constitute a sustainable competitiveness. Especially for the foresight of the future market, this is very important. Domestic cloud computing companies want to occupy the top three positions in the domestic market, there's still a long way to go."
In a market full of variables, whether it is a user or a cloud computing company, the best way to stay out of the game is to stay focused. For users, it is not easy to pay attention to the development trend of cloud computing and avoid the misleading propaganda of some organizations. For cloud computing vendors, the only thing that needs to be done in a volatile market is to identify and continually correct navigation. From this perspective, the growth path of domestic cloud computing vendors may have just begun.
