Debian installation package

The debian software package is installed offline using a dvd image. For more information, see debian.

First introduce the environment:

Virtual Machine: debian7.2.0

Host: Win7

 

Because sometimes the software package needs to be installed offline when it cannot be connected to the Internet, you can put down several DVD images listed on the debian official website. In fact, it is mainly DVD1, so that you do not need to connect to the internet every time you install the software.

Below is my DVD image from the Debian official website:

Which means that this disc is number 1 of a set of 10 discs It

The programs on the Binary discs are ordered by popularity.
Binary-1 disc contains the most popular programs and the installation
Tools; it is possible to install and run Debian with only the Binary-1
Disc. The other discs, up to Binary-10, contain mostly
Special-interest programs.

There is a Debian installation manual in DVD1. the path of the Chinese manual is doc/manual/zh_CN/, and the installation of DVD is also introduced.

The software packages included in CD (and DVD) are sorted by popularity. That is to say, the first disc contains the most commonly used software, and the last disc contains the software rarely used.

This also means that buying or downloading all the CDs is a waste, because most of the CDs are not used at all. In most cases, you only need to use the first 3 to 8 CDs and then install other software packages from the network image. The DVD scenario is similar: only one or the first two DVDs can meet most of your requirements.

Based on experience, common desktop installation (using GNOME desktop environment) requires only the first three CDs. Other desktop environments (KDE or Xfce) require additional CD. The first DVD can easily meet all three desktop environments.

Start Installation below:

First, add three virtual optical drives to the virtual machine to load the three downloaded DVD images.

At the same time, create a new directory named cdrom2 under the/media directory. after the system restarts, it will automatically mount DVD2 to/media/cdrom0, and Mount DVD1 to/media/cdrom1, mount DVD3 to/media/cdrom2, for example:

 

After mounting, you can modify/etc/apt/sources. list and add the following content:

If you do not know what to write after the path, you can execute apt-cdrom add. The system will automatically search for cdrom and enter/etc/apt/sources. list file. you can see how it is written. if you use apt-cdrom add, the software package cannot be found.

Finally, you can execute apt-get update.
