Ibox is a gentoo-based Chinese desktop LIVECD released using the GPL protocol. it has the ability to automatically detect and configure hardware, and is highly customized and highly scalable.
Ibox can be used for diskless workstation, or as a host system for some release versions such as gentoo and lfs, and can also be used as an emergency rescue disc. compared with similar release versions, its biggest advantage lies in its excellent applicability and culture in glc (Chinese portage.
The main features are as follows: 1. the automatic generation function (mkxorgconf script) of xorg. conf is similar to knoppix, but knoppix automatically generates xfree.
This script has been tested on different hosts for several weeks. it fully supports usb mouse and keyboard, and starts 3D support for NV and ATI, automatic setting of the most suitable video mode and other important parameters is the main feature.
2. modified the net-setup script (from gentoo, but I added 802.1x authentication and interactive configuration of ADSL) to configure the network (in fact, an optional dhcpd has been executed at startup)
3. fully apply the Chinese portage to configure the Chinese culture desktop
4. for other trivial LIVECD configurations, various standards gradually approach knoppix, the mother of LIVECD, such as virtual memory optimization and tmpfs customization.
5. added the content of gentoo installation CD in snapshot, stages, and glc snapshot, which can be used as the basic gentoo installation disk.
6. using customized GNOME as the Chinese Desktop, almost all commonly used software is configured.
7. supported log file systems include reiser4 and reiserfs.
Current main disadvantages: Because compatibility issues are not taken into account when constructing the root file system and kernel, it can only run on a cpu architecture above the Intel copper core, that is, ibox should at least run on an Intel cpu above saeyang II; AMD architecture is not yet supported.
Future prospects for version 0.05: 1. supports all AMD and Intel series cpu architectures
I have mastered how to be compatible with the constructor of all types of x86 systems, starting with kernel and gcc Compilation parameters, will support all x86 architectures in the ibox-0.05 pair. I'm a senior, and I don't have much time to do it. so wait for a while, maybe next week, haha;-p
