Virtual Machine: VMware Workstation 8

Virtual Machine Operating System: Red Hat Linux.5.5.for. x86. server version 2515dd4e215225dd. iso

1. Restart the Linux operating system

2. After Linux is restarted, there will be a series of Environment checks in the terminal state. A color GRUB boot interface will appear in about half a minute, and a 5-second countdown will wait, as shown in figure

3. Enter the e key after the above interface appears, a color guide will appear, and the following three options will appear

4. Move to the second option, press e to enter, add single or 1, and press Enter.

5. Press B to enter the restart mode. When the following prompt is displayed, enter boot and press Enter. During this period, the input must be completed quickly.

Starting udev:

6. The following prompt is displayed. Enter passwd and press Enter. The new password of the root user will be prompted. Repeat the new password.

Change the password of a common user

1. log on to the system as the root user. If you forget the user name, perform Step 1 to search for the user name. If you remember the user name, go to step 2.

2. Find the/etc/shadow file.

3. Find the line starting with the user name. For example, if my user name is "PPS" and the colon is used as the delimiter, the red part is the encrypted part of the password.

4. The TPNs are my username. Run the passwd TPSs command on the terminal and enter the new user password.
