I. Check whether samba is installed

II. Install with software management package
Application-> Add/Remove Software, but the information is not available.
The reason is that you have not connected to the Internet. Before you open the software management package, you must first connect your PC to the Internet.
Open the software management package, search for the software to be installed, and select the items to be installed. Follow the prompts.
However, it takes a long time to complete.
Because you do not know which software to install, search for samba and select all uninstalled software with samba.
After installation, use rpm-qa | grep samba

Select start to start the smb server, or use the service smb start command on the terminal.
4. Open the wins Server
Open the SMB configuration file/etc/samba/smb. conf and add
Wins support = yes
Restart smb
The samba service is available. files can be shared in the network, even in linux and windows.
5. Configure the wins Client
1. windows
Only windows XP SP2 operating systems are similar.
(1) Add the WORKGROUP specified in smb. conf of samba (this is the default Working Group Name When samba is installed)
(2) Enable the wins client
Network Connection-> Local Connection Properties-> Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)-> properties-> Advanced-> WINS-> Add the IP address of the wins server
In NetBIOS setting, select Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP. OK !!!
After WINDOWS is restarted, the wins client registers with the wins server. Then, you can directly access the computers in the same working group with their names without entering IP addresses.
In Start-> Run, enter the \ User Name to access

2. in linux
Only fedora core 5 and linux can be used as wins server or as wins client, but not both.
Therefore, to configure the wins client in linux, you only need to modify/etc/samba/smb. conf,

Wins server = X. X (note: the IP address of the wins server)
