: A few steps have greatly changed-arcglobe 3D performance optimization ::
What is the display efficiency of arcglobe 10? Is the browsing experience still smooth when the scenario contains more than one fine modeling model? I have gained some understanding of performance optimization through several projects recently, and have summarized the optimization process to share with you. The following steps greatly change the display efficiency.
1. arcglobe scenario settings
Users who enable arcglobe for the first time also need to set a series of scenarios, such as changing the cache storage path, adding the hard disk cache and adjusting the virtual cache according to the data to be added.
In customize | arcglobe option | display cache tab, modify the squadron cache Pach. The default value is the c disk installation directory.
Increase the disk cache size to improve visualization efficiency.
Click the Advanced button to bring up the following dialog box. You can increase the memory cache size of a 3D object.
2. data preprocessing
The following pre-processes the building layers, image layers, and elevation layers to be added to the scenario:
A. Merge the multipath layers.
In the project process, because the modeling volume is large and assigned to multiple people, multiple multipatch layers for saving buildings will appear. First, you can use the append tool to merge the multipatch layers of similar features into one layer.
B. Merge the DEM and DOM data.
We recommend that you use the mosaic dataset released by ArcGIS 10 to organize large data volumes of raster data to improve loading efficiency. For more information, see the following link:

3. Load Layers and cache Creation
A. Building Layer
Add layers and add the recommended feature properties and visual distance of the loading Wizard to the arcglobe scenario. After the layer is fully loaded, set the layer to invisible (check the hidden area in the visualization box) and set the properties of the layer, including feature properties and visual distance: for buildings with high density, the feature properties ratio is recommended to be 1: 610, and the visible distance is 0-0.8.
Finally, cache layers. You can set the cached data to visible for quick browsing.
B. Dem and Dom Layers
Directly cache the layers. Right-click the layer and click Generate data cache. Compared with the building build cache speed, the grid data cache has been established for a relatively long time, you can put this time in the middle of the night :).
The above are several important optimization steps. Then you can press and hold the left mouse button (FLIP), click (drag), right-click (zoom), and flexibly change the angle of view to quickly view the scenario!
PS. based on the above optimization methods and cache creation, for the scene segment density is 100 m * 100 m, 0.17 million High Precision Modeling (0.2 million faces per model) the browsing efficiency of the wire and tower model is still very high ~~
