This is from the Web front-end Development Design Essentials written by Steven D.
While many designers have been very adept at using web standards, it is regrettable that many details of typography still run counter to traditional screen printing requirements. Here are 10 deadly semantic error demos that are published to avoid your continued use in Web layout:
1. Use hyphens instead of a dashed line with EM
Using Em's dotted line is now a very popular practice for web editors.
2. Use periods instead of ellipses
This is a special printing aspect of the ellipsis mark (especially in the Western European character), composed of three points, different from the Chinese inside the ellipsis.
3, using the correct quotation marks
In the quoted section, you should keep quotes where needed, which will indicate whether the part is licensed or partially free.
4, strictly control the double spacing between sentences
This is a classic error from the ASCII period, the double spacing of the sentence has no one to use, please note this.
5, for the correct use of copyright symbols
Using the wrong copyright symbol, not only violates the copyright agreement may also have the negative effect to your copyright protection, you should use McCoy (©), this is the standard copyright symbol.
6, do not use too much emphasis on expression in the sentence
You can use bold, italic, or partial underscores to emphasize your content, but do not use them on the same line.
7. Underlining is your hypertext link, not something else.
Such content does not make reading more clear, in fact the reader is not clear what they are important, if you must do so, you can try to use the Border-bottom:solid 1px #00f, to replace the above effect.
8, through Photoshop design font fake style
If your fonts don't provide bold, italic, etc., do not make them in Photoshop and then mix them into your web layout, which is naïve.
9, do not use the characters on the accent
When you use the vocabulary of some other countries, especially the names of people, please do not take the accent to judge the writing, it is very impolite.
10, do not use CSS to define uppercase characters
Uppercase characters are difficult to read first, and if they are not required for decoration, use them sparingly, especially in the entire line of text typesetting.
