4.6. Create a virtual network
SCVMM can configure a logical switch or standard switch for a Hyper-V host.
The so-called standard switch, which is the virtual network configured on the Hyper-V host, does not configure port bandwidth through SCVMM, and if you are configuring virtual machine bandwidth, you can only configure the VMS separately through Hyper-V Manager or Cluster Administrator. By establishing a standard switch for Hyper-V through SCVMM, a network card on a Hyper-V host is mapped, and if the host does not do NIC teaming, multiple standard switches need to be made to make full use of multiple NICs, or a NIC group is established to map a standard switch to a virtual NIC group. The work is completely manual, and the workload is acceptable for a few host environments, but it is cumbersome for a slightly larger environment, so it is recommended to use a logical switch.
A logical switch is a distributed switch on SCVMM that aggregates the virtual networks of individual hosts and sees them as a large core switch on a network topology. In this way, it is very convenient to manage. The logical switch is built in SCVMM and the upstream port is set up, and the Hyper-V host automatically makes a combination of multiple NICs when creating the virtual network, which is advantageous for large-volume deployment hosts.
