NXP Semiconductors, formerly known as Philips semiconductor, has announced that the company uses a full range of transceiver products using WiMAX 2x2 MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output, Multiple inputs and Multiple outputs) technology, this series of products is specifically designed for mobile and handheld applications. To fully support the adoption of mobile WiMAX technology, the new series of NXP Semiconductors adopt 2x2 MIMO technology, doubling the data processing capacity, doubling the maximum speed of the company's existing WiMAX transceiver solution.

This new solution will enable WiMAX infrastructure OEMs and ODM vendors to provide more stable WiMAX functions, while maximizing savings in total power consumption, fixed facilities and system costs.

NXP said, we can imagine what it would be like to watch a rich and vivid interactive TV on the mobile, or to have a multi-party video chat while surfing the internet or reading emails, wiMAX is a key factor in implementing this interactive and portable media environment. It can provide users with low-cost broadband communication and access services anytime and anywhere.

As one of the few 2x2 MIMO WiMAX solutions in the industry, the new UXA234xx WiMAX series transceiver of NXP expands coverage, increases bandwidth, and improves spectrum efficiency, it can effectively improve WiMAX access in densely populated urban areas. In addition, because 2x2 MIMO allows dual input and output channels, it can meet the needs of bandwidth-Intensive mobile applications, such as streaming data, voice and video data, it will not burden the network load, and the cost of telecom system vendors will also be much lower. As a result, end users can experience a speed of up to 15 MB, which is 3 to 5 times faster than today's wireless broadband and mobile networks.

Analysts pointed out that WiMAX is changing the way and speed for consumers to access data, so that consumers can transmit voice, video, and data at four times the speed of mobile, so as to enjoy a real Mobile Life, wiMAX using MIMO technology is so important because it can provide higher bandwidth at a lower cost.

In addition, NXP's new series transceiver is built on the success of the company's first WiMAX series transceiver, ensuring seamless transfer between the base station and the base station, this is one of the greatest challenges for WiMAX device designers. The new series transceiver uses standard analog I/Q and serial interfaces to achieve optimal interaction across different fundamental frequencies, and can coexist with mobile, WLAN, and Bluetooth standards.

The UXA23466 and UXA23476 WiMAX 2x2 MIMO transceiver of NXP are currently being sampled for trial use. Mass production will begin in the second quarter.
