ADSL is currently one of the most widely used Internet access methods, with a downstream bandwidth of up to 1 ~ 2 Mb/s, And the uplink bandwidth is also kb/s ~ 1 Mb/s, fully meeting the Internet access requirements of ordinary users. ADSL is widely used for various types of Internet access because it uses the original normal telephone line for transmission and is provided by the ISP (Internet Service Provider) to access ADSL at a low cost.

However, frequent ADSL faults bring great troubles to users. The possible causes of ADSL faults are:

1. Quality of ADSL Modem. Poor stability, cannot work for a long time, and is greatly affected by the ambient temperature.

2. ADSL line quality. The distance used by parallel lines is too long, the distance from the local side is too long, and the electromagnetic interference is serious.

3. Connect the ADSL device. The filter is installed improperly and connected to other telephone devices.

4. Computer settings. The network adapter is not correctly installed, and the ADSL connection is set.

Next, we will introduce some common faults and troubleshooting methods.

1. The NIC indicator on ADSL is flashing.

Fault symptom

As a proxy server, the computer is installed with two NICs, one connected to the ADSL Modem, one connected to the other computer, and connected to the Internet using Windows 98/XP. Later, because Windows 2000 Professional needs to be installed, everything works normally at the beginning of the dial-up, but in less than five minutes, the NIC indicator on ADSL will flash and ping DNS will be different, but can ping the gateway.

Fault Analysis

From the above fault, it should be a computer virus or system or hardware compatibility problem. We recommend that you take the following measures:

(1) Replace another PPPoE dialing software

(2) Upgrade the BIOS of the motherboard. Back up the BIOS before you upgrade it for recovery as needed.

(3) Use an ADSL Modem of another model.

2. The Link indicator is always flashing.

Fault symptom

The Internet adopts the ADSL access mode. After the ADSL Modem is powered on, The Link indicator remains flashing and cannot be connected to the Internet.

Fault Analysis

ADSL Modem has a CD or Link indicator. By checking the working status of the lamp, you can identify the connection failure of the communication line connected to the ADSL Modem. Under normal working conditions, the indicator will soon be on after the power supply is connected. If there are other exceptions, it indicates that the line may have a fault, as shown below:

(1) If the CD or Link indicator keeps flashing, the communication signal on the current line is unstable. If the indicator cannot be restored to normal, the communication line may fail. You can call a phone number to test the line quality.

(2) If the line is unobstructed and the indicator is still flashing, it means the port is faulty. Check whether the separators are connected when the ADSL line is in the household, and whether the separators are connected to other devices, such as extensions or anti-theft systems. If the indicator remains abnormal after troubleshooting, ask the ISP to provide technical support or change the ADSL Modem.

It should be noted that even if a telephone line can be used to answer the call, it cannot be determined that the line is definitely not faulty, because the ADSL signal and the telephone signal are not on the same channel.
