Your results: Know who you are working for and whether you want to meet your expectations or provide value.

 

In30-day agile results: OpeningSpeaking of the next step, we will conduct agile results exercises. The previous article learned 18: Increase the creative time for every week. Today we are going to do the Getting Result exercises for 19th days. Who are you working? (Day 19-Who are You Doing it ?) When we know who we are working for, faith comes along. When you know who you are doing, you can check whether you are doing valuable or have more important things. You can invest more time and energy on important things. More importantly, you can better find the value of your work.

What value do you deliver?

When we develop products, we often mention the word value. This is not only for customers, but also for customers. I think when you spend time and energy on everything, you should pay attention to the value transfer, instead of executing the action itself

Value exists in the eyes of other users

 

When a common error occurs, you spend time and energy on one thing. Only you are concerned about when to do it. You need to find out who you are doing these things for and how to embody the value of these things.

  • Don't be thankful for yourself
    If it is for yourself, it is very good. You just need to care about your needs. Don't expect others to thank you because these things are not for them. If you feel a lack of gratitude or appreciation, ask yourself, "Who did this for me ?" If you are yourself, find out whether you are most concerned about it, or you can invest the same time and energy in other things.
  • Find out what they really care about for others
    If you are working for others, ask them if what you are doing is most important to them. It may be your customer, your partner, or other people. It is easy to assume that they should think this is very valuable, but it is very likely that you are only doing the tip of the iceberg, it is not the most important part.If you are doing a low-priority task, don't expect others to thank you.Your success depends on finding out the high priority and the true value.
  • Do not be a garbage clearing site
    The more you do low-priority tasks, the more you will become a garbage cleaning farm, and the more you will be busy until you are overloaded and stay away from happiness.
  • Stay away from boring things
    If you fail to do something valuable, you will feel that you are in an environment that is not worth your stay and is under high pressure.
Kano model

InRequirement entry-use the Kano model to determine the priority of a requirementI introduced a Kano method for determining the priority of the requirement. I think this exercise can be referenced, so it is listed here:

  1. Basic requirements:The customer deems that the product "must have" attributes or functions. When its features are insufficient, the customer is not satisfied; when its features are sufficient, there is little impact on customer satisfaction, and the customer is satisfied at best. For example, as long as the hotel bathroom meets my basic needs, I do not care what material is used to prepare the sink.
  2. Expected needs:The required products or services are excellent, but they are not "mandatory" product attributes. Some customers who want to provide the desired products or services are not clear about them, but they hope to get them. Customers generally talk about expected needs, which are also called linear requirements. The more these requirements, the better. The more linear requirements are implemented in the product, the more satisfied the customer is. If the customer is not satisfied with these requirements, the customer is not satisfied. Therefore, the product price is generally related to linear characteristics. If the hotel has fitness equipment, I will be more happy. I may stay here next time than a hotel without such equipment.
  3. Balanced Requirement: Provide customers with unexpected product properties to surprise customers. Excitement and surprises are often the demands that customers do not know about before they see these features. When its features are not adequate and are irrelevant, the customer does not matter. When the product provides services in such a demand, the customer will be very satisfied with the product, this increases customer loyalty. This type of demand can increase the additional price for the product.

  • Arrow at the bottom right: once a certain number of required functions are implemented, this type of function cannot be added to improve customer satisfaction. No matter how many features are required, customer satisfaction does not exceed the point above.
  • The arrow above the left: only a part of the points can significantly improve customer satisfaction, which is why the enterprise regards the pursuit of excellence as one of its values.
  • The arrow in the middle: the increase in expected features and the linear increase in customer satisfaction, so the more requirements, the better.

Basic needs basically do not provide any value. It is necessary. The following describes two parts: Expectation and excitement. We use a dot line to separate the expected and valuable two parts.

A simple example is: when I go to a hotel, I have a bed and a bathroom. If I have a TV or an air conditioner, I should have a treadmill and surfing the Internet.

Online or offline

In the middle, the center line separates expectation and value:

You need to consider whether your work is online or offline.If you want to improve your influence, you should first focus on what you expect and then on what value you provide.This is the same as software products, so I sometimes feel that software is actually learning to communicate with people and learn to do things.

For the online and offline parts, we can refer to 9: Use must, should, and can determine the priority of daily events to set the priority of these two areas.

Thoughts on transferring more value
  1. Who do you provide value for: yourself or others?
    Everything is valuable. If there is no value for yourself or others, it may belong to the Fourth quadrant, and it is best to stop it.
  2. Do you need to fulfill your expectations or provide value to achieve your results?
    Everyone needs to do a lot of things, so it is impossible to do everything at the same time. Some things can achieve expectations. This is a balance. Otherwise, the energy will be insufficient.
  3. Is the value you provide really needed?
    Do you provide the things you really need? Don't just guess, or else it's not nice to do a good job.
  4. What are you doing to meet your expectations or provide value?
    Focus on whether the current work is conducive to the ultimate goal

What to do in this exercise

  1. Who is the real target of your current effort,It is best to provide value for yourself and others at the same time.But it doesn't matter if you are different. You can usually find or establish a common point between yourself and others.
  2. Find out what you actually do for yourself and do it without hesitation. Remember that only those who love themselves will care about others.
