Abnormal display of WMP album covers (updating the real cause and perfect solution)

Windows Media Player has been used to manage music. It is very convenient to use Windows 7 library, and the interface is concise and generous. it was always good, And suddenly one day I found that the album cover was abnormal. it is shown that almost all the covers of a song are the covers of the music played for the first time. They always show the same album cover, and these music itself has an embedded album cover !!!

The two folder.jpgfiles and albumartsmall.jpg files are automatically created in the songs directory every time. After deletion, the files are automatically created and displayed as the cover.

The problem exists here for sure, but why is it good before? Google did not find the answer after logging on, nor did it cancel the options in the WMP privacy settings. Later, there was no way to solve this problem in a silly way, however, we still hope to find a solution to this problem.

This silly hacker creates a folder named albumartsmall.jpgand folder.jpg in the Song catalog. This way, every time WMP is started, it will not create a new file because the folder with the same name is detected, and the album cover will be displayed normally.

Real Reasons and perfect solutions

Finally, the real cause of the problem is found !!!

Let's talk about the process of discovering the real cause.

After a few new songs are downloaded from Baidu music, the album cover can be normally displayed during playback, and then several more albums are downloaded. Some of them do not have an embedded album cover. So I added the cover with mp3tag. As a result, I manually added the cover of those music and it was abnormal! However, if you use Windows Media Player to add album covers, everything works. I have carefully compared the two methods for adding a cover and found no difference. I also found that the first time the new downloaded music may be playing abnormally, and the second and later versions will be playing normally. Does Windows Media Player have cached album covers?

With this question, Bing, Google, and Baidu found a cache one afternoon! C: \ Users \ USERNAME \ appdata \ Local \ Microsoft \ Media Player directory contains album covers for all songs !!! After you manually delete these images, Windows Media Player cannot display the album cover!

OK. The problem is found, that is, Windows Media Player has a cache. If you use Windows Media Player to add or modify the cover, the cache is automatically updated, if you use a third-party tool such as mp3tag, the cache cannot be automatically updated.

If the problem is found, the solution will soon become apparent. Since the cache is inconsistent, you only need to ensure that you do not use a third-party tool to modify or add a cover after adding the music library.

What? Are you saying this is not perfect? What if I put the music into my music library and used a third-party tool to modify the cover?

Forget it. Try again. Since there is a cache problem, rebuilding the cache will solve the problem. Procedure:

Right-click the title bar and choose tools> advanced> restore media repository. After WMP is disabled, all the music is added to the music library again. Then, check whether the album art is normal!
