Add video control to PowerPoint 2007

Adding video to PowerPoint 2007 is not a very difficult thing to do. However, when we play a slide, we often need to control the playback of the video, let it play when it is needed, pause when it is needed, and then continue to play. In PowerPoint 2007, we can make homemade buttons to do this, and it's not difficult to implement.

First step: Insert Video, Edit button

In PowerPoint 2007, click the Small triangle button under the Media Clips feature group movie in the Ribbon Insert tab, and select the movie in File command from the pop-up menu, as shown in Figure 1. Insert the video file that we prepared beforehand with the Open Insert Movie dialog box.

Click the Small Triangle button under shape on the Insert tab, select Rounded rectangle in the pop-up list, and drag a rectangular box in the slide. Then copy the two same rounded rectangle boxes.

Select the three rounded rectangular boxes, right-click, select Edit Text on the shortcut menu, add play, pause, and stop text on the three rectangular boxes to represent three different function buttons for each of the two corners. As shown in Figure 2.

Step two: Set the play button

Select the video box and click the "Custom Animation" button in the animation feature group of the Ribbon Animation tab, as shown in Figure 3.

Figure 3

Displays the Custom Animation task pane on the right side of the window. Click the movie action → play command on the Add Effect menu in the upper-left corner of the task pane, as shown in Figure 4. The task bar for the animation appears in the task list below.

Click the Drop-down button to the right of the task bar and select the timing command in the pop-up menu, as shown in Figure 5.

In the Timing tab of the Play Movie dialog box that opens again, click the Trigger button, select the Start effect when clicking on the following Object option, and select Rounded rectangle: Play in the Drop-down list on the right, as shown in Figure 6. In this way, we specify the trigger that plays the rounded rectangle to animate the video. When you show slides, you can play the video by clicking the play rounded rectangle.

Step three: Set up other

Button

Use the same method to add pauses to the video, stop the animation (as shown in Figure 4), and set the pause rounded rectangle and the stop rounded rectangle for each of the two animations as their triggers. The method used is exactly the same as the "play" animation setting, and this is not verbose.

Well, it's that simple, just three steps to be achieved. When you click the Play button on a slide show, the video starts playing, clicks the pause button, stops the video, clicks again, the video continues to play, and clicks the Stop button, and the video stops playing.

In fact, we can also use other objects such as pictures, WordArt, etc. as triggers. In this way, we can make our slides more beautiful.
