The default configuration file is/etc/IRCd. conf. After installation, you can directly start/etc/init. d/IRCd-ircu start.
The newly installed IRCd-ircu does not run properly, but it cannot be started after the system is restarted. After the startup script is executed, a prompt "Starting IRC server daemon: IRCd-ircu" is displayed. ", but it is not found in the process, and the port is not opened.
Here is the solution

Because IRC is not recommended to run with root permissions, IRCd-ircu installed with APT will create an IRC user to run IRCd, after installation, the/var/run/IRCd directory will be created temporarily before the IRCd is automatically run and the owner is the user IRC. However, the startup will fail because the directory does not exist after restart, this is the startup script/etc/init from IRCd. this sentence in D/IRCd-ircu causes "start-stop-daemon -- start -- quiet -- pidfile $ {pidfile} -- chuid IRC -- exec $ {IRCd }", rather than IRCd-ircu. manually create the/var/run/IRCd directory and change the owner to IRC.
Root @ host # mkdir/var/run/ircdroot @ host # chown IRC: IRC/var/run/ircdroot @ host #/etc/init. d/IRCd-ircu restart
